Can you use an fittings for AC lines?

thanks. There are braided-type hoses and fittings made for AC use, but the usual stuff you use for oil hoses, etc. will not work. Refrigerant molecules (especially R-134a) will seep right through most rubber hoses and the AN flare fittings as well.

Can you use hydraulic hose for air conditioning?

Do not use any rubber lined hydraulic braided hose for AC applications. The freon will permeate through the rubber in no time, and the system oil will eat the rubber up. Make sure it is made specifically for AC.

Can you use hose clamps on AC lines?

Hose clamps don't seal as well as fully crimped ferrules. Also the screw clamps for AC lines have a metal tang to help keep the hose in place. All joints leak to some extent, it's just a matter of how much. With a barrier hose, I would have a hard time recommending a non crimped repair.

What are AC lines?

Refrigerant lines are two copper lines that connect the outdoor air conditioner or heat pump to the indoor evaporator coil. The larger line typically carries a cool gas and is insulated. This is commonly referred to as the suction line, but it is also called the return line or vapor line.

What kind of pipe is used for compressed air?

Black pipe is the most commonly used pipe recommended for compressed air systems.

Does PEX work for compressed air?

Q: Can I use PEX pipe for compressed air applications? A: No, PEX pipe is not intended for compressed air applications. I had pex in my last shop for six or seven years.

Can plastic pipe be used for compressed air?

ABS, PE and HDPE plastics are appropriate for use in compressed air piping systems and have some benefits over metal. The materials are lightweight and easy to work with, requiring no special bracing or supports. Plastics can be easily cut and fit using standard tools and can be glued together rather than welded.

What is reduced barrier AC hose?

Reduced Barrier A/C hose is a newer style of hose that has a much thinner wall and therefore smaller outside diameter. The advantage to this type of hose is in its easier routing due to its smaller size and ability to be clamped as well as crimped. Also ideal for R134a and R12 applications.

What are automotive AC lines made of?
